Olivia Fialho

Postdoc

Olivia Fialho is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Huygens Institute for History and Culture and Lecturer in Comparative Literature and Distant Reading at Utrecht University. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Alberta and specializes in empirical, cognitive, and digital literary studies. She is the author of Transformative Reading (forthcoming, 2022), a program that allows readers to connect more deeply and conscientiously with their emotions, improving their social functioning. Her research has been awarded and funded by the F.S. Chia Fellowship, University of Alberta; the Netherlands Organization of Scientific Research (NWO); a Literature, Cognition and Emotions Fellowship, University of Oslo. It has inspired the design of innovative programs of literature teaching in primary, secondary and higher Education and in Business. She has co-edited Scientific Approaches to Literature in Learning Environments (John Benjamins, 2016).
